I was initially introduced to the TRX suspension system as a tool for shoulder rehabilitation when I first began working with the Gloucester rugby squad. It is the perfect tool for challenging the dynamic stabilisers of the shoulder joint during functional movement patterns. We have witnessed great improvements in strength and a reduction in time taken to return to normal activity during rehabilitation of conditions such as shoulder dislocations, impingement syndrome and peripheral symptoms of the upper limb that accompany pathology of neck and brachial plexus injuries amongst other upper limb injuries.

We currently have 3 units in our rehabilitation area and they are constantly used within our injury prevention and rehabilitation programmes. The versatility of the system allows us to manipulate its use for an array of outcomes including core strength, low limb movement patterning and even stretching and joint mobility. Another great benefit of the TRX is that we can easily dismount the unit, pack it away and set it up in the changing rooms at the stadium for the players to use as part of their personal preparation before matches.
